We are a small but very succesful show kennel based in Buckinghamshire. Both myself and my partner, David, are so proud of what we have achieved since 1995 with this wonderful breed. We hope you enjoy looking at our Shar Pei and others we have bred. Please feel free to contact us if you need any help or advice, or are looking for that special puppy. We know lots of reputable breeders that have the breed’s best interest at heart, and are breeding healthy, typey and good tempered Shar Pei
My love of all animals is unreal, but it is the canine (dog) that has my undivided attention. I have always been animal mad right from the time I was able to talk. At school I was always the one that looked after the school pets, ranging from chickens, hamsters, rabbits, etc; it was me that was there whenever possible, cleaning them out and holding them – what joy they gave me. My passion for dogs was strong from an early age. We always had dogs and various other pets whilst I was a young girl.
My first show dog was a young old English Sheep Dog called Hattie. I was just starting out with her doing obedience and companion shows, but sadly we lost her at a young age. We then rescued another OES from a couple that were separating. The lady that was helping us with this was called Linda. She showed at Championship Show level and this was my first experience of seeing how a proper show was run! It changed my life and my ambitions forever.
When I was able to, I purchased an OES puppy from a lady who had a litter in Milton Keynes. The bitch was a pet but the sire was from the reputable Elaine Georgion of the Jeddep Kennels. I so wanted to meet this successful breeder/exhibitor, and I eventually did at ringcraft. I proudly took my OES called Turbo to meet her and this was the start of a wonderful friendship. She taught me all I knew of how to show, trim and handle this wonderful breed.
Over the years I had much success in the breed, making up a wonderful bitch called Lyka (Ch Jeddep Wishbone Whisper), and many people still remember her. Lyka had a handsome son who also did very well.
I loved showing so much that I handled many breeds for people over the years. It was on a sunny day at a show that I met my dear friend, Linda Rupniak (Konishiki Shar Pei). It was fatal that she told me to visit her when she had a fab litter on the ground. So I did, and that was the start of my love for the Shar Pei.
Our special girl PK (Konishiki Penelope Pitstop at Witchgait) was our princess, a natural showgirl who took the breed by storm. She was our foundation bitch and was so special, there will never be another one quite like her.
That was 15 years ago now and my success has been unreal. I have such a special bond with all my dogs that we share in and out of the ring… we just gel. I try and do as much as I can with my dogs, such as clicker training, obedience and heel work to music. I really feel this helps you have that special bond.
My showing is very important, but most of all my dogs are my constant companions at the end of the day.
All my Shar Pei are very important to me and the Witchgait team. We have had some very memorable wins along the way, and I am sure there are many more to come. Please enjoy my web site and your views/comments are most welcome.
I am here anytime for a friendly chat.
